Trustee Awarded Grants
This is a brief sampling of grants awarded in 2015 by the Board of Trustees of the Cadillac Area Community Foundation.
$2,500 - DISTRACTED PARENTING PROGRAM
This Cornerstone Fund grant was awarded to the Wexford-Missaukee Child Protection Council to help increase awareness of the importance of social and emotional development of children and how this is negatively impacted by "distracted parenting". This Program will also to increase the awareness of the negative effects that the over use of cell phones and other electronic devices has on our children’s social and emotional health and overall well being.
$3,708.40 - TECHNOLOGY IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAM
Soon it will be even easier for area residents to help "take a bite" out of crime with the assistance of our area law enforcement departments. Silent Observer was awarded a grant, by the Board of Trustees, from the Cornerstone Fund. This grant will provide for technology implementation and add a program to allow tipsters to use the Internet for online tips, a new website, a smart phone app and a new call center dedicated to taking only tipster calls.
$800 - MISSAUKEE CRT ELECTRONICS COLLECTION
This grant, from the James and Michele Bernier Energy & Environment Fund, was awarded to the Missaukee Conservation District to collect the old computer monitors, television sets and projection televisions to keep them out of landfills and woods as they are harmful to the environment. The older style CRT devices are a significant environmental concern because each unit contains 5-10 pounds of lead.
