The Legacy Society

The Legacy Society honors and recognizes the generosity and vision of those who have chosen to leave a gift to the community foundation through estate or deferred gifts to the Cadillac Area Community Foundation.

Legacy donors may choose to designate their gifts to the Cornerstone Fund to address community needs through the at-large Trustee Grant Program or to a specific fund or group of funds that are held within the Foundation. A Legacy gift may also be used to create a new fund. All of these different types of gifts help to insure that the well-being of our community continues into the future.

Enrollment in The Legacy Society is simply a matter of advising the Foundation of the intent of leaving a Legacy gift by completing a Statement of Intent. The gift can take the form of a percentage of an estate; a cash bequest in a will or living trust; a named beneficiary of a retirement plan, IRA, or life insurance policy; a home or land; a charitable gift annuity; or even a charitable remainder trust. Persons wishing to create an Endowed Memorial Fund through their Legacy gift would meet with a Foundation representative to notify them of their intent. A formal agreement would be drawn up that would satisfy the wishes of the donor and meet the legal requirements regarding the establishment of the fund. The agreement would be finalized and kept on file at the Foundation office until such time as the gift is received.
